Servings 6 trees

Ingredients

  • 1 Recipe Greek Yogurt Bun Dough (without cheese) (find in our Easy Cheesy Greek Yogurt Buns recipe)
  • 1 Recipe White Bean Pesto Dip (find in our White Bean Pesto Dip recipe)
  • 1 tbsp oil for frying
  • Tomatoes and Peppers sliced for decoration Get creative with any vegetable or toppings you have on hand

Instructions

  • Make the dough from Easy Cheesy Greek Yogurt Buns recipe but omit the cheese. Once dough is formed, cut dough into 3-4 pieces.
  • On a floured surface, use a rolling pin to roll out sections of the dough to form a thin layer like a tortilla, about <1 cm thickness.
  • Using a floured knife, cut dough into the shape of a tree. Combine leftover dough scraps then re-roll to form the remaining trees. Repeat until you have 6.
  • Heat an oiled frying pan to low-medium. Once warm, add the tortilla/flatbread (depending on pan size, you may be able to cook multiple at once).
  • Cook for 3- 5 minutes per side, depending on your tortilla's thickness and size. You want it nice and toasty brown on the outside, and the middle will remain soft and pillowy!
  • Now onto the White Bean Pesto Dip! Make the dip according to instructions. For a quicker alternative, combine store-bought hummus with spinach in a food processor to turn it green.
  • Once flatbread is cooked and cooled, spread green dip to resemble a Christmas tree. Invite your child to decorate their tree with different vegetables and toppings of choice
  • Take a bite and enjoy :)

Notes

  • Make the white bean dip ahead of time for ease of preparation or while flatbreads are cooling.
  • Kid Cooking Tips: depending on the age of your child, have your child help outline the shape of the tree with a toothpick then you cut it out or let them create their own design. For younger children, include them more in the tree decorating for ease of mess.
  • This recipe makes around 6 trees with a little leftover. Use leftover dough to create a smaller round flatbread or tortilla.
