Virtual Meal Support Group

Little Spuds Nutrition offers a weekly drop-in 1-hour meal support group facilitated by an ED-specialized dietitian virtually via Zoom. The group is small with a maximum of 6-participants to promote adequate support and coaching to all participants.

Because the group is drop-in, all participants must attend an information session prior to attending to ensure all participants maintain a safe supportive environment for everyone.. The information session will discuss group guidelines, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and meal requirements to participate. The information session is offered once per month on Tuesdays.

What is Meal Support?

Meal Support offers a supportive setting to share a meal together. During these sessions, participants start with a pre-meal check-in, enjoy their own brought-from-home meals, and engage in various activities after the meal. This holistic support, encompassing the period before, during, and after the meal, enhances the likelihood of successful meal completion, encourages normalized eating habits, helps with tolerating fullness, and assists in addressing behaviors that may obstruct progress towards healthy eating and recovery. Meal Support is beneficial across different stages of recovery, aiding individuals in both improving their intake and variety. Moreover, it provides a safe  environment for participants to practice social eating.

Who is this for?

  • Individuals in eating disorder treatment who are actively working towards 3 meals a day
  • Residents of British Columbia only
  • Age group: 18+ with eating disorders
  • Participants need to be connected to a therapist and participate in regular medical monitoring to ensure safety to participate as aligned with best practice for eating disorder care
  • This group is transdiagnostic, meaning there are individuals with all types of eating disorders in the group
