If you follow us online, you’ve likely noticed we share content normalizing kid food that isn’t Pinterest worthy. Don’t get us wrong, it’s fun to see families getting creative with food and decor but it’s also good to acknowledge that isn’t real life for most people.
Honestly, who has the time these days?
If you’ve ever felt like your kids are missing out on spooky festivities, we’ve got you covered to join in the fun. This Halloween meal won’t break the bank and actually takes 10 minutes to prepare using simple ingredients.
Your littles will love the playfulness of ghost toast with the added bonus of being creative with food. Happy Halloween!
Ghost Toast
Equipment
- Toaster
Ingredients
- 2 slices Your favourite bread (we used sourdough)
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt Higher fat/ protein yogurts hold their shape best for 'icing' your toast
- 1 tsp Honey (to taste)
- 1 tbsp Mini chocolate chips (extra for sampling)
Instructions
- Toast your choice of bread
- While toasting, mix yogurt and honey in a bowl OR skip to next step if using flavoured yogurt and/or no honey
- Place honey yogurt mixture into a piping bag (either a plastic sandwich bag or an icing bag works!)
- Cut off a small corner tip on the bag
- Once toast is done, use the yogurt bag to draw an outline of a ghost, then fill in with remaining yogurt
- Kid cooking tip: Try drawing the ghost outline and then ask your child to fill it in - it’s like colouring your toast!
- Add two chocolate chips for eyes and enjoy 🙂
Notes
- For little ones under the age of one, use flavoured or plain greek yogurt only as honey should be avoided in babies until after the age of one.
- Use the yogurt you like best. We used plain Greek yogurt mixed with honey, but you can try different flavours, fat percentages or variations. Higher fat or protein yogurts will hold their shape best on toast. Regular low fat yogurt will be too runny.
